“The Bears Go To School” by Kay Winters. (Book Review)

It’s back-to-school time for the kids, and because all the children seem so excited to head to a new school year, this has Pete & Gabby bear cubs feeling left out of all the fun! Off they go on a school adventure, to try all the things school has to offer! Dolly loved the sweet faces of Pete & Gabby and giggled at all the mischief they got into! From shaking the tambourines in the music classroom, climbing the rock wall in gym class, munching food in the lunchroom, to making a colorful mess painting red and blue paw prints all over the art room walls, Pete & Gabby sure had a fun day, eluding the teachers all the while! Dolly’s favorite part was when the cubs let the animals out of the cages, and of course she loved to wave goodbye when they headed back home! On a personal note, I love the patriotism the bears show before entering school; reciting the pledge of allegiance is one thing I wish all schools would continue to do! And as a parent reader I have to admit I chuckled seeing two bears head off happily in a police car! Too funny! This is a really cute book and definitely one that all your back to schoolers would enjoy, especially children new to school and nervous, as Pete & Gabby can give them their first tour! Teachers, pick this book up for your classroom, the kids will love to read this one aloud! Giggles all around!
