“Skeleton for Dinner” by Margery Cuyler. (Book Review)

It’s a case of misunderstanding when two witches from the Haunted Forest try to invite their friends over for a Halloween feast! The stew is brewing… snake and spiders are on the menu, but who should Big Witch and Little Witch have over to eat? They make their invite list and post it on the tree, but it isn’t clear to the invitees, Skeleton, Ghost and Ghoul, if they are invited TO dinner, or if they ARE dinner! This sends everyone running and hiding through the forest in this cute and silly Halloween tale! Will the witches be sad they can’t find their friends, or is there an animal in the forest who can help them sort this matter out?! The illustrations by Will Terry are Terry-fying! (Hehe! Had to!) The pictures are dark and evoke the spookiness of Halloween. Every mark on the witches’ faces are eye-poppingly creepy! But seeing a Skeleton, Ghost and Ghoul act like scaredy-cats and two witches as rather friendly hosts reverses all you ever thought you knew about the spookiest creatures of Halloween! Dolly thought this story was bone-rattling fun and you will too!
